Here is one way to model this sink.

I started with the pedestal part.

I extruded this shape a bunch of times to sculpt the base.

I deleted both the top and bottom of the base-- you'll never see them.

Extruding sometimes produces funky shading between polys. I selected all the edges and made them soft

Edit Polys--> Normals--> Soften/Harden

A value of 180 makes them soft.

I then throw a cylindrical map on the base and alter it in the UV Texture editor.
